I am going to be hooking up my (4) 7" monitors and would like to hook them to the iignition power source that my headunit uses. Is this ok? Will it continue to provide power while the car is on?

If the power source switches OFF when the key is turned to OFF the you're fine. I would still switch them with a single 12v relay as they are not high current draw devices. You could use the ignition or the pwr ON (orange wire?) out of the head unit.

Do not use any wires directly from the deck. Capitan Morgan was right on using a relay that would be a good way to get a clean power source. The other way to do it would be to use a video distribution amplifier. that way you can run power and video to and from it. It can also cut down on the ammount and length of wire your using.

I used the Clarion VA700 This one!

its under my center console and I only have 2-6' length of cable instead of 12' and Y cables.

I actually have that exact same one coming. You cen feed power out of that as well? Sorry for the stupid questions but this will be my first attempt. Where did you take the power from for the Clarion? I really want to have the source for the Clarion and the monitors to go on and off with the ignition.

I would go one step further and buy a DELAY relay, this let's you turn the key past ON and back again and let's things get settled before the relay pulls in to pwr the monitors.

+1 on everything mentioned above, 4 extra monitors may give you problems if you just tapped directly to the headunit so a relay (delayed is a good idea) is the best option. Then the video signal amp will make sure they're all getting strong signals, instead of being cut down from using a bunch of splitters. My friend just did a bunch of splitters when he did 2 visor monitors and a trunk screen in his car and all the screens are kinda fuzzy with little lines going thought them

I delay relay is a great idea if all your accessories turn on when they get power. The monitors I have do not power up until the power button is used, so no need for the delay. Most monitors wont have any power draw until switched on. But again depends on your products.

Also the VA700 does have a power and ground out but its mainly to be used to power another VA700 if your going crazy. I used it to power (aka switch) a relay that powers the monitors from the battery.

So if my monitors will only turn on if the power button on the screen is pressed then I would not need the Delay Relay? My monitors do have a power button so I am assuming they are not going to turn on when I turn on the ignition. Where did you run the power from? I guess what I am asking.... where did you tap into your power for the Clarion Video booster?

If the monitors have a power button on each one then just wire them to their own constant 12v source....my rearview mirror screen has a constant 12v, a ground, and a reverse camera wire, along with 2 video input cables. The screen only turns on when I press the button on it
