Just did my first oil change the other week and added the Fumoto valve while at (do it to everything I own). If you're a DIY guy doing this on the ground, this is almost a must at the rate the oil come gushing out plus the location almost on top of the swaybar. I also lucked out and had the metal oil pan.

I have Futmoto valves in our other two vehicles and agree they great to have. I ordered a Valvomax for the Expy to try something different (and because they currently have a code for 20% off).

Finished the oil change today. Made a pretty big mess on my garage floor, but went alright otherwise. I got the Valvomax plug installed, so should go much smoother in the future. Thanks for all the advice!

I bought my 2024 brand new, and it doesn't have the felt belly pan under the oil plug that is mentioned here and shown in every Youtube video. Any ideas why it is not present?

On top of that you don’t have an engine plastic cover either. Same as mine.

I'm lazy and got tired of having to remove the shields. So, I bought a Manual Fluid Pump Extractor. Best thing I ever did. Takes maybe 5 to 8 minutes to drain the oil, another couple minutes to change the filter, fill her up with 6qts. of synth oil and done. And to top it off, oil is ready for transport. I chose: OEMTOOLS 24937 6-Liter Pneumatic/ Manual Fluid Pump Extractor. It was more expensive than some others, but a better build.

Maybe Ford decided it wasn't doing any aerodynamics help, or they just decided to save money?

Think about all the time they will save not taking off the belly pan during every 10R80 transmission rebuild. And I mean EVERY 10R80 will be rebuilt.

Oil filter end cap wrench for the Motorcraft FL-500S filter - Lisle 61570

This is 76mm, fits the new style FL-500S that has flats instead of crenellations. Right sized - secure grip and just loose enough that it releases easily, doesn’t bind on the filter.
