Greetings

I'm new to the forum and very disappointed in my new Platinum. Ordered it last year and picked it up in late November. The glass hatch kept unlatching on its own...randomly. This was later later fixed with a new switch. The rear hatch creaked when accelerating or anything that would torque the body. That was fixed with a Ford service bulletin that added or removed styrofoam from the bumper? One of the most vexing problems that has yet to be addressed is the automatic and random engaging of the e-brake when i put the truck in Park. No rhyme or reason. Sometimes it does, sometimes it does not. According to the owner's manual, the e-brake should not engage automatically when the vehicle is put in Park.

Now, there is a "growling" sound coming from the front or middle of the vehicle. It goes up and down with vehicle speed, most predominantly at 40MPH. It has a similar sound to open tread mud or snow tires. Yesterday I discovered that if i switch from 2WD to AWD, the pitch goes up slightly and it becomes more noticeable. It will not revert to the original when i switch back to 2WD, but it will after I come to a stop. Transfer case or middle differential?

I'm bringing it back to the dealer on Monday so hopefully they'll have a fix for the e-brake situation and can identify the problem with the drive train noise We have over 15 Fords in my company and I've always been a fan, but an $80K vehicle should not be this troublesome. Any ideas?

I have a 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4, purchased new.

I have a 2014 Impala 2LTZ, purchased new. It has the electronic parking brake. My wife and I use it all the time. However, if the parking brake is not applied often, the vehicle will randomly and intermittently apply the electronic parking brake for you (per the owner’s manual). I know you said the manual said that your vehicle shouldn’t apply the brake when shifting into park, but is there another section about random application of the brake?

Since new, I have repeatedly and randomly received “trailer wiring fault” and “no key detected” DIC warning messages. The front parking sensor system will randomly activate (no inclement weather or anything on the sensors.) Multiple trips to the dealer but I was told there were “no codes” so there was nothing to fix. I have the HD towing package but have never towed or even opened the wiring harness connector covers. The messages continue.

As far as the other issues - I have no answers. It seems as though Ford and its employees forgot the “Quality is Job 1” slogan with the 2018 Expedition and Navigator..........

Good luck.

If the sensors are blocked in any way, the functions that use them are disabled, we had a snowstorm as well and the sysyem disabled the acc because there was a film of snow on the bottom bumper. However, without the snow coverings, the systems work again in the snow or rain. As far as the e brake, mines does this too, i picked up that if i "slammed" the dial into park(any speed where the detents are passed without reading) will activate the ebrake. Im guessing its a safety feature to make sure the truck doesnt roll at any point in park. It sux that it seems the first run of these trucks were rushed, makes it harder to love em. Hopefully you have a good dealer who will actually work to get ur truck squared awayor to make u happy. Its hard to feel like damn i got the 1 bad truck out of 1000 and noone is tryin to get it back to 100%

Just as 07 says, it's first model year stuff. You really gotta expect this when you make yourself the guinea pig for a manufacturer. Now their test will be how quickly and tirelessly Ford fixes this mess.

Thank you for the responses. I was hoping the "trick" for solving the e-brake deployment would work, but it did not. I spun the selector dial quickly and the brake did not engage. I did it slowly and it engaged one time. So frustrating, especially when it's not supposed to do it at all. It's going to the dealer this morning for the growling noise and to see if they can solve the rogue e-brake issue. Everyone knows that first year models can be troublesome, but the lease on my MKS expired (I already extended it by 6 months)and i needed a big vehicle. My wife had 2 F150 King Ranches, my daughters have had Explorers and Escapes, I've had an Excursion, an MKS and now the Expedition. All my service trucks are Fords. Let's hope Ford doesn't want to lose a good customer enough to fix the problems.
