On All these 3rd generation Expeditions they just have the plug and no filler tube as most of us know. I have an after market dip stick and filler tube but have not installed it because when you take out the plug without the engine running fluid drains out, So I thought I would wait till I do a fluid and filter change.

Here is the question. For all of you who have done this fluid change, how did you get the new fluid in? Most of us don't have a fancy pump like the dealer does. I have seen the videos on the change but not really much info on how the do it yourselfer gets the fluid back in.

I was thinking about getting an inexpensive garden sprayer and modifying the sprayer to expel the fluid. I am thinking that you could put enough pressure in one of those to pump the relatively thin trans fluid. How did you guys do it?

The auto supply stores (Autozone or Oreilly's) sell a cheap plastic pump that screws onto the top of the plastic oil bottle. It fits the quart size and the bigger bottle. Just pump it in. When I changed mine, I bought the pump and also 2 of the long plastic funnels. I got one funnel into the filler hole and stuck the other one through the fenderwell into the first one. I was able to pour most of the Mercon LE in through that setup. Then I checked the level and finished up with the pump. Wear leather gloves because you will be working next to the HOT catalytic converter.
