Question for those who have regeared

I've tried looking around on a couple of different sites, But I can't seem to find an answer.

I'm rolling 37s.

I am re gearing this next week from the factory 3.37 gears to some 4.88 gears. I am ready to order the ring & pinion, but this is where the trouble starts. I called ford today to find out what my ratio was .. being.. 3.73. with the 9.75 ring. Issue number one. On 4 wheel parts.. they offer it in a LONG, or SHORT option.. What Do I have?

also.. I'll be getting the master rebuild kit for the rear differential. But All the pictures of the ones I see are for a 10 bolt pattern.. I don't even know what model rear diff I have. ?

talk to the guys at Randy's ring and pinion.... they helped me with my old 97 f150 when I put 4.88s into it... still gotta save the cash to put the 4.88s into my expy.....

their install price is way too steep for me, especially since 4wheel parts is saying they only need 450 with labor and tax included.


I suppose I'll take a whack at it this weekend, by myself.
