All,

I want to clean my radiator that is currently off the truck. I am almost ready to install a brand new motor and want to clean the radiator out before I put it in service so I don't run crap through the new horse. Does anyone know of any cleaner that I can let sit in the radiator for a night to clean it up before I install it?

Thanks!!!

I've used muratic acid. It will clean it to bare metal. If it has any internal corrosion it will remove it, but just know that if the corrision has eaten through the metal, it will leak afterwards. The process is simple, lay the radiator flat, pour in the acid, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, dump it, throughly flush with water, repeat.

Thanks man. After doing a lot of research online, I found a guy 10 miles away that restores/repairs radiators including core exchanges. $40 cash and I'm in business. Including a pressure test and can have it back to me in 4 hours after I drop it off. Does it out of his house/garage. Going to save me around $70. Appreciate your response, just don't have the resources to safely dump or store the acid.

Thanks again!

Diz-

Glad to hear you found somebody local to do the job cheap. It's a good idea to have somebody else boil it out. The job is quick and easy for him and clean for you. It is very responsible of you to respect the safe handling of chemical. Cheers.
