I have a 2007 Expedition EL with the NAVIGATION UNIT 7L1T-18K931-DB 7L1T-18K931-DA. I no longer have power to the unit. I've tried to locate the fuse in the owners manual but it refers to the Navigation supplement. The supplement does not have a fuse diagram. All attempts to find an answer online have turned up zero results.

check in your owners manual for the print of the passenger compartment fuse panel.

Then using a meter check the following fuses #3, 28, 29, 38 and 40.

No luck

I removed the recommended fuses and did a visual and meter check...they are good. I also did the same for all the fuses in the passenger kick panel as well as the ones in the engine area. All fuses check good. As a note the radio does work. Work is defined as I can hear a station and control the volume with the on/off knob. I cannot turn the radio off or on, change the station or change the media, no display, no switch-ology, no CD player, no back lighting on the switches...etc. I've had zero problems with the panel until now. I had just gotten it back from the Ford service center after having the driver side window regulator replaced. It worked that day but the next day it was dead.

Is the referred "smart junction box" the same junction box on the passenger side kick panel? If so I've checked those as well. Only option for me is to replace them with new ones. I wonder is there is a inline fuse or a grounding issue. I'll double check 39 when I get home tonight.

I didn't see any in-line fuses in the wiring diagrams But that doesn't rule out that there could be internal fuses in the units.

When you check the fuses see if you have voltage going into and coming out of the fuses Not sure which way you checked them

Yes the fuse box behind the kick panel. Also could be a ground issue

I did not check for voltage...just whether it was an open circuit or not (ohms). I also did a visual inspection using a light to illuminate the filament.

I prefer using a ohm meter Had a few times years ago the looking at a fuse it appeared to look good but was really bad That's is why I suggest using a meter.

Check the voltage going into and out of the fuse, you can do it with the fuse in place. If you have voltage in and out then the next step would be to pull the unit and check for voltage at the connector. If that is the case let me know and I can send you some prints.

fuse 39,38 and 40 are all hot at all times
fuse 3 is only hot in the start or run position
fuse 28 is only hot when in the start position

So you will need to have the key in the run position to check the first 4 fuses
and have a helper check fuse 28 when you turn the key to start

Since yesterday was too cold to work outside I moved the Expedition into the garage. In the dim light my son noticed that the CRT was powered. Sure enough someone had turned down the dimmer switch. So...I have power (buttons illuminated and CRT goes from black to grey) when the key is in the run position or when the engine is running, but no data is displayed and still no functionality.
