I'm soooo frustrated! The second we drove our new 2014 expedition off the lot the radio sounded unclear with a static noise (like station isn't tuned in). I brought it back to ford dealer and they tell me it's fine! I drove a gmc 8 years and that radio still sounds clear! Does every Ford sound like this? The XM radio and my iPod radio sound even worse than standard stations! The dealer said its just a cheaper system than GM. I'm so angry and want to like my car, but this is unacceptable in a brand new vehicle especially with the way technology is now!! I have a Jeep with a factory radio that sounds clearer! Please help!!

Take it to a sound shop and have someone listen to it from there. Stealerships are useless. Someone who deals with radios for a living will be able to tell you if the factory units are just cheap or if yours is defective.

More than likely the stealership doesn't want to replace the radio for you. My radio from 1997 sounded just fine, just didn't have very much power.

I would suggest that you send Todd (Ford Cust. Service Rep.) a private message explaining your problem and see if he can help you resolve the issue. I don't have wiring diagrams for the 2014 model year but it sounds as if there is a problem with the antenna
Click on the following link and you will find Todd's post and get his contact info from that.
Hope this helps you.

Probably not the antenna. She said the ipod also sounds like that.

Did it just always sound bad or is there a staticy sound? Turn the volume to 0. Do you still hear the sound? What trim do you have (eb, xlt)? Do you know if it has a factory amplifier?

Hey mommy2five,

I'd like to connect you with your regional customer service manager, who'll work with you and your dealer to come to a solution. Please send me a PM with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and preferred servicing dealership.

I would suggest that you send Todd (Ford Cust. Service Rep.) a private message explaining your problem and see if he can help you resolve the issue.

Thanks for putting this on my radar, bedrck46.

Todd
