My 2017 Limited began doing something on our trip back from the coast today. Several times (6 before we just turned off the radio) while hitting the brakes, the radio volume would climb as if the steering wheel control was being held down. Seems like some kind of short, anyone have a clue what it could be?

Suddenly having the volume go to max is a problem...

Assuming you are under warranty. Dealer ship appointment.

It’s almost like his automatic volume control is reversed. Instead of getting louder as speed increases it gets louder as speed decreases lol

Why do you think the head unit has to be replaced? The screen shows the volume going up to 30 when it happens

Again, if you are under warranty let them diagnose it. Non of the parts and pieces involved are going to be cheap. You don’t want to replace them out of pocket unless you have to.

Wow, I'll bet you got a surprise the first time it happened to you! I listen at 8-12...going to 20 for a really good song....30?!? WTF?

Yeah, this one's a no brainer...listen to Loki and take it in. First, this needs to be documented and second, you REALLY don't want that happening at an inopportune time yet you should not be afraid to use the features of the truck that you bought. In essence, you are being denied the......LOL

Just take it in....

Total agreement, take it back to dealer. In the meantime, turn off the "speed compensated volume" feature (see Owners Manual) and use radio. If thats stops problem that might be good info for repair.

May sound silly but have you checked something is not leaned against the rear controls that is hitting the volume when you brake???

Mine did the same thing when I made some turns. I had a cooler behind my center console that slid just enough to turn the volume up.

My kids foot will get it from time to time as well.

Well, I thought the rear controls for the radio were locked out, but just checked and they were not. We had our two dogs in the back at the time with the rear seats in “cargo mode”, center rear seat down as well. The dogs were up behind the front seat and there were some other items in the area as well. I had put the seats back up last night, drove to work and back today (about 60mi total) and was unable to replicate the issue, tried several times slowing down from high and low speeds at different rates and nothing happened. For now, I suspect this was a loading issue, but will monitor it closely over the next week or tow, if it happens again - off to the dealership. Thanks Black for the help! Genius!
