One question regarding a 2019 Expedition. Recently purchased vehicle that has a factory AM FM stereo. Can a factory Radio with CD head be purchased as a replacement with no problems.

No CD Drive has been offered in the Expedition since 2015, maybe even before. One question regarding a 2019 Expedition. Recently purchased vehicle that has a factory AM FM stereo. Can a factory Radio with CD head be purchased as a replacement with no problems.
Take a pic of your center stack and post it here. If you have any version of Sync with the touchscreen display, you can use Carplay, or plug in a USB with MP3's. Many options. Thanks for the reply. Taking Expedition for service today (Cam Phasers) and 30k on truck. I am looking at options for the sound system. CD was my thought at first. USB or a plug in player may be my only avenue without spending Huge dollars for a aftermarket install. Exploring my options.
That is weird, because the 15-17's did not if they had the full size Sync screen. Pretty sure it was not standard. The 2018's had a CD player (mine does). I dont know if you could put a 2018 head unit in a 2019+
You have Sync 3 with the screen. Have the dealer update it while they have it. You will be able to use the 2 USB's in the picture to attach your phone for CarPlay(Apple), or Android Auto. Then you can use any Media on it, or stream Pandora/Spotify/Tidal/Amazon Music. This unit has the ford sync and the other items tied to this system.
2018 was that only MY that did...they dumped it in 2019. No idea why (other than the obvious "who still listens to CDs").That is weird, because the 15-17's did not if they had the full size Sync screen. Pretty sure it was not standard.
Interesting! Had not heard that. Great info. Really didn't start look at the 4th Gen's until early 2020's, so makes sense why I never saw one.2018 was that only MY that did...they dumped it in 2019. No idea why (other than the obvious "who still listens to CDs").
Someone on here (can't find the post now) took apart their center stack for something unrelated and found a disc drive in there...so maybe they all still have the hardware?

If it rattles for more than 2-3 seconds that most likely your turbo wastegate, not the phasers. It may be both, but the phaser rattle ALWAYS lasts only 2-3 seconds. Thanks for that post regarding the hidden cd player. I have the expedition at the dealership. I am not happy with the run around regarding the Cam Phaser diagnose procedure. I took a video of the vehicle start up after sitting 48 hrs. Sounded like a diesel for 20 seconds. Gave that vid to the Service Technician to perhaps expedite this repair process. Amazing how they they try to push off the inevitable repair with lamebrain reasons of rules to follow procedure. To me it rattles when cold..........fix the m'fer and don't feed me BS.
My base model 2016 XLT has a CD....No CD Drive has been offered in the Expedition since 2015, maybe even before.
See, the plot thickens. Our 15 Limited did not, neither did our 17 Limited. My cousins 16 Plati did not either. Had a loaner 17 a few times, also an XLT, and it didn't have one.My base model 2016 XLT has a CD....
I have a 2018 Expedition Limited and my truck with sync 3 has a factory installed CD player. Have no idea regarding retrofitNo CD Drive has been offered in the Expedition since 2015, maybe even before.
Yep, I have been corrected. I have owned 3 Limited's since 2016, 2015, 2017, and now the 2020. No CD's. So it must be package related. Like I said, would be fun to do a poll.I have a 2018 Expedition Limited and my truck with sync 3 has a factory installed CD player. Have no idea regarding retrofit
