The wife and I just got a 2019 Expedition and at the 1300 mile mark, it would appear that a piece of trim decided to relocate itself to the side of the highway in South Dakota. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Is it going to be a hassle to have it replaced under warranty? I've got an appointment with the dealership tomorrow and I'm really hoping this is a fairly simple warranty claim, but this would be my first foray into dealing with Ford customer service after the sale.

We didn't hit anything, didn't drive through any hail, and didn't experience any gale-force winds. It was there when we left the house and gone when we got home.

I wouldn't think the dealership would give you too much hassle on getting that repaired. Just make sure you take it to the dealership where you purchased it. Gives you a little more leverage if push comes to shove.

Taking it back to the same dealership, luckily we haven't moved out of town just yet. Hopefully when we get to Texas we can find another dealership we like.

Update for the two people who are interested, the dealership ordered the replacement part and they said they'd make it right regardless of how the warranty claim shakes out. Apparently Ford is very hesitant to cover anything on the exterior unless you can physically bring it in and show a defect, but that's hard to do when it comes off at night while driving down the road at 65 mph.
