I changed the oil and put 3 quarts of royal purple,owners manual says 5.5 pints(2.75 quarts),I did not see running down.Is that enough? ty

I've always filled mine until a little came out and never had an issue but that's just me. I would just buy another quart and put a bit more in if it were me. The royal purple is great stuff and holds up great.

I always have the vehicle on level ground and cold if possible. Usually the fill level is to the bottom threads on the fill hole. If you do this on a hot rear end you may have some shoot out once you remove the plug.
If you do any off reading make sure the vent valve isn't clogged.
