I just recently picked up a 05 EB 2WD. It's got a Sony xav-64bt in it. The rear DVD player is kinda busted up, case is separating cause the clips are broke, the clip that holds the screen up is broke, doesn't power on at all.

I want to replace it (mostly because it looks like crap in its current condition) and wanted to know what other people had done. The hole that's cut for the factory DVD player looks big and then it has a groove around it for the casing to sit into, so I didn't know if aftermarket is going to work at all with out some kind of heavy modification.

I would prefer a monitor up there that was connected to the head unit, but not sure how I could cover up the hole/etc. If I decide to just get a factory replacement, I'm not even sure if it will still work with the aftermarket head unit (for sound).

Any thoughts on this?

You previously had the factory DVD player? You have any picks about how it looks with the aftermarket?

its just a bigger screen

Right but those screens are typically made to take up the space that is left behind by a dome light, which is what you started with. The stock DVD player leaves a pretty large hole in the roof, and also a even bigger circular groove around it for the casing it set into. I don't have the faintest idea how I would began to patch that with out it looking terrible.

the hole will be covered cuz the base of my monitor is like 20 inches...thats just for 12" monitor...so measure the hole and find the base size for the upgrade...for the groove do u mean from it pressing against the headliner?
