I have a 2010 ford expedition XLT with no Sync or sub, standard factory stereo. I had the HU replaced professionally with a kenwood DDX419. Just noticed the back speakers are not working. I've taken it back and they can't figure it out. I've taken the radio out and checked wiring and also took back speakers out and can't seem to find anything wrong. My question is... Is the rear radio control locking out the speakers? It has the headphone icon on screen but controls do not work. They told me the rear radio would not work with aftermarket HU. I'm ok with that but would like sound back there. Is there another adapter to use? Thanks for help in advance!

Is there an initial speaker setting mode when teh unit is reset? I know a few other manufaturers do this.

We just bought this rig so I never got to play with the rear radio. From what Ive been reading if you hold the 3&5 on factory head it will mute the back speakers so they can plug head phones in. Now with aftermarket head that's not an option. Installer is scratching his head on this one.

May be on to something. I think he put the wrong harness adapter on. According to Crutchfield i need a "PAC C2R-FRD1". This will allow the rear seat radio to work and speakers. The harness he used is a Axxess XSVI-5520-NAV.
Anyone else want to help? Installer told me he talked to tech support and that the Axxess was the only harness that would work. Why is crutchfield saying something different? Hate to order this $120 adapter if it wont work.

yes there is...in your setting you should see something like rear output or something of that nature...note what it is set to then disconnect your batter for a couple of minutes...reconnect and go to initial setup...for my pioneer i need to have full output...if not i wont have sound in my rear doors...took me a couple of times of disconnecting the battery to get the setting correct

I've read the manual front to back. No help. I know the expedition has dual zone sound because you can mute the back speakers so the back passengers can put on headphones and listen to their own music. Was hoping somebody here has changed out a HU for 2010 expedition and what harness they used.

Update.... I put the PAC harnes on and it works! Rear speakers AND rear seat audio. Went ahead and installed a kicker 10" substation in back while I had everything tore up. Sounds pretty good. Thanks for help!
