Repair Tranny, or buy Rebuilt from Ford.

I am having tranny issues, and I am being told $3000 for new rebuilt from Ford, or Tranny shop will diagnose and repair for possibly less $$$.

Thoughts?

I would first get a diagnoses. Then see what it is then look at getting a remain if it is something major.

I was just researching trans because I am looking at buying an expy with over 100k miles. Monster has good reviews and the price is decent.
