Replaced rear temperature blend door actuator and it still doesn’t respond to front or rear control settings

04 expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4L

I had the blend door actuator clicking issue so I replaced both actuators. I fixed the clicking issue but realized the rear ac only blew hot air regardless of the temperature setting on both front and rear controls. I removed the actuator that is mounted on the side of the ac system and took the gear and spline out of the old blend actuator and manually moved the door myself. The temperature responds to the manual turning the door just fine. The new blend door actuator doesn’t seem to respond to the control panel settings to change the temperature using either control panel. I bought it from autozone, could it be bad or possibly the wrong actuator? Originally I bought a set of 2 from Amazon and had the same issue so I decided to just not be cheap and buy one from a local parts store but neither actuators changed the temperature. I zip tied the door in the cold full open position because it’s Florida and above 90 all the time. But when it gets in the winter months I would like to be able to adjust the temperature as needed in the rear system. The front system works perfect it’s just the rear I’m having issues with.

I recently replaced the fuse panel to repair some other issues and used all brand new fuses and relays but I checked the ones for the ac system anyway and they are good.

The fan speed does respond to both front and rear control panels if that helps, just not the temperature.

Does the roof / floor vent selection work in the rear ? ( that's the other actuator on the aux box ...).
Yes

Do you get any voltage or voltage change out of the plug when you select temperatures ? When's the last time the rear actuators worked ?
I haven’t checked yet. I just bought the expedition a few weeks ago. The actuators clicked since buying it. Finally got around to working on the rear ac. I will have to check in the morning. Thank you for the schematic it helps tremendously.

I was finally able to find time to troubleshoot the rear ac system. I found I have power at the connector to the blend door actuator. the voltage changes in correlation to the temp knob turning so I know the electrical system is good. The new actuator I bought from autozone appears to be dead. It does not move at all or even make any noise when the connector is plugged in to it. I took the old actuator and plugged it in and it moves and clicks which was the original problem but that tells me the new one is bad. I looked at the reviews real quick and saw others had the same issue with autozones blend door actuators. Its definitely the right part number just dead on arrival. I am waiting on a new one to arrive today so we shall see.

so I got a bad dead actuator from auto zone and the new one I ordered works perfectly. I hate when you put in a brand new part and it doesn't fix it just to find out the part itself was bad. Makes troubleshooting a lot harder. Thank you for the wiring schematic it helped me figure out and rule out an electrical power issue real quick.
