I like talking tires. That's why I'm here.

Before I had big, tall, heavy SUVs, I was very active in the region’s SCCA where I was autoxing, doing track days. I ran in street tire classes. If I could get a set of tires to last 12 months before becoming bald, I was doing quite well. I learned that tires could make all the difference in the world.

SUV/truck tires used on the highway like what we use aren’t quite the difference maker that a 180 treadwear summer tire could make on an autocross course.

he’s got a point. Both have 4 wheels, 4 doors, a lift gate, a V8 engine...... both get you from A to B. By the tire analogy posted earlier, they are the same truck. Just a different interior “compound”.
Tires have 3 parts and all the makers know how to assemble them. Where is the silver bullet?????

Tires have 3 parts? Because all tire rubber is the same. All tread patterns are the same. All sidewall constructions are the same.

If that’s the case, then all vehicles are the same. They all have the same parts and all the makers know how to assemble them. Where IS the silver bullet????? A Ferrari is the same thing as a Kia. There’s no difference. Both automakers know how to assemble the same parts that go into them.

After owning a set of Coopers from new then to Michelin’s from new in this truck I can tell you with certainty they aren’t even close to the same LOL.

It makes as much sense as your post about all tires being the same because they all contain the same parts. You know your argument was stupid. I’d hand you a shovel to keep digging, but a spinning tire will also dig in dirt/sand/snow, so I’ll just hand you a tire. I mean, after all, they are the same thing.

according to your tire analogy, apples and oranges are the same. They both grow on trees, they both have seeds, they both are made into juice. Therefore: SAME!

Not even close! You said there are three parts to tires, and the manufacturers know how to put them all together. He was making the same statement based on a similar concept - manufacturing a car. Your statements make no sense at all.

The metal in the radials may be different mixes. The tread tends to be different AND - believe it or not, tread patterns actually matter. Go figure! Then there's the rubber compound used to make the tire. Whoa - this may blow your mind:

There's a reason why people up north have snow tires they switch to in winter months. THERE's a BIG difference between using winter tires in snow conditions and all season tires in the summer.

There's a reason why Good Year makes a different compound in racing tires. In fact, they have different compounds PER TRACK. Can you believe they don't have one race tire for all types of racing?

Come on 07navi - you can't really believe there isn't a difference between different tires, manufacturers, and what not. You've had some good points in the past, but this one makes you seem dense. In some way, I think you are just egging people on.

Troll. Pretty sure the word is troll. He’s definitely trolling. To come out and say that because tires have the same components they are therefore the same, you have to be a troll.

No, 3 parts to a tire. How many ways can you manipulate that? Did you think only Mich knows how to make tires? What can you do to a pair of jeans to make them superior? What about a pencil ? It's a no brainer really but you aren't grasping it. Advertising plays a big role in it and gets people brainwashed.
And Johnson;.........no :Nonono: You don't see me calling people stupid.

You can't debate it so you resort to accusations and calling names. Not saying all tires are exactly the same but yes, in the same league they are pretty much all the same. Many cheap tires are indistinguishable from more expensive ones. Rubber, steel, and fabric cords all assembled the same, what else is there?
