I have a 2001 Expedition and I am going to replace the fuel pump.

1) Can you replace the fuel pump and reuse the sending unit or do you have to change it as an assembly? I see the dealer sells it with the sending unit assembly only.

2) What brand of replacement fuel pump is recommended or known to be good alternatives to the factory replacement?

Thank You

On the first gens you can replace the pump only unless you want to replace the whole assembly.
I've been using Denso pumps without any problems. Stay away from the cheap pumps.

I did pump and sending unit since the tank was coming down. I went with a motorcraft part since I didn't want to do it again anytime soon.
