So I am in the process of pulling my 5.4 out of my 1998 expedition. Everything is disconnected, ready to pull, but I need to make sure of something.
There are 4 torque converter bolts, which are removed, but I cannot get the torque converter pushed back enough to where the bolt heads do not protrude through the flex plate. It does push back about an inch, but there is still about 1/4 inch of bolt still through the plate. It is definately loose and not corroded to the flex plate.
Is this normal? Is that as far back as the converter will go? I just did not think any part of the studs should still protrude past the flex plate,.
Thanks
