I've seen previous posts on this. You may want to search the Forum but as I recall you (pop a cap off first) take 4 screws out, it's off, and you have to fill screw holes with something like silicone so it can be undeleted at some point in the future if desired and doesn't leak. At least thats what I recall. I've used caulking rope for stuff like that also, never hardens.

It will be slick as heck and you will get 0.00001 better MPG and be the envy of all !!!

Actually previous posts were for later model years I believe. My 2003 has a line of TORX screws on each rail. Same deal though. I'm impressed, very strongly mounted. I wonder if you could put those TORX back in with a rubber washers underneath to seal? Plumbing supplies? Or squirt of silicone and screw?
