Dealer borescope revealed a ton of carbon build up on intake valves. Ran BG induction treatment and fuel tank additive. This thing putts around town, school, neighborhoods and practice. Not much highway. It’s a school bus and a grocery getter. 10-20 starts a day, to and from house constantly. 3-7 kids in it going all different directions everyday especially weekends. Can’t change that… that’s its job. I’ll be sure to jump out on the highway more often and put it to it more often….might help

45K miles.

I thought they solved this.

I thought they solved this

The second gen of the Ecoboost was supposed to help limit build up of deposits on valvetrain with it having both port and direct injection.

With only 45k miles it seems very odd to have a ton of build up.

Walnut blasting is the best way to clean that up... It is a little pricy though.

Run some Berryman B12 through the vacuum lines and put some inside the tank too. But a Gen2 engine shouldn’t do this. Unless these are really short trips.
Mine does short trips too. 7miles twice a day using regular gas and got no problems!? However every 3 months or so I do a 450 mi trip with it.

I suspect your dealer is a liar and looking to sell you a $2700 "intake and combustion chamber resurfacing".

With 45,000 miles on a 2023, you don't have any "carbon buildup on valves"

You may want to pull a plug and check the condition of it... but the mileage is even short for spark plugs. You should be using premium gas, as Ford specifies. Especially with short trips, I hope.
