I have a 2006 XLT sport. Sometimes when I start it from cold it makes a real rough sound. It starts just fine but I'm concerned that this rough start might lead to another problem. Thanks for any help.

update

I have read from a few sources that say this sound is related to the the ac compressor and it is just a characteristic of the vehicle. Anybody ever heard of that?

any other help. usually starts just fine if I have started it that day. sometimes leaving work it will make this rough sound when it has sat in the heat all day. I wonder if the heat has anything to do with it?

it isn't a grinding noise. more like a bark sound. been researching and I hear that it could be something with the load leveling system. some say that the compressor for the air suspension could be the culprit. not sure how to tell if I have the load leveling suspension though.

my Ford is not equipped with the load leveling system. not sure where to go now. I get a rough bark sound when I start it if it has been sitting for a couple of days or if it sits in the hot sun during the day while I'm at work. Any ideas?

i think its just the motor for the air suspension man, If ur truck sits for quite some time, tendency is that air seeps or lessens on ur suspension so the motor automatically pumps air on it.
