does anyone know why some expeditions have painted running boards instead of the plastic ones? does anyone know where I can find a pair? part number? I think they look much cleaner.

The paint hold fine on the limited because the boards are metal...the EB is hard plastic...that why I want the limited...they have a non-slip that goes on the steps like the rear...tan doesn't...

The boards on my Limited are painted, but the tops that you actually step on is not.

A bit late, but oh well. I have a 1st gen expy but like reading and seeing all other post and pics. seeing this post I thought I show you what I have done to my running boards. I've installed 18 led marker lights and wired them to my park lights. so what do you think??

that is bright... I Like it... Now you can wire it to be used as a turn signal too...
