Safety Recall 24S06 - 2018-2020 Exp-Nav - Inadvertent Pretensioner Deployment - Advance Notice...jpg

Supplemental information on involved component(s) from 2018-2020 Expedition Workshop Manual:

Airbag and Seatbelt Pretensioner Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) - Overview

The Restraints Control Module (RCM) continually receives and monitors inputs from the Occupant Classification System Module (OCSM) and various other hard-wired switches and sensors. If the RCM detects a sudden vehicle deceleration and/or lateral deceleration based on the information received from the various sensors and determines that deployment is necessary, it applies voltage and current to deploy the appropriate SRS components.

Seatbelt Anchor and Pretensioner

The seatbelt anchor pretensioner is a pyrotechnic device that removes excess of webbing slack from the seatbelts when deployed. One is included as part of each front row outboard seatbelt assembly and cannot be serviced separately.

Thanks for the heads-up, 99WhiteC5Coupe.

I have added references to this Advance Safety Recall Notice in those two other Forum discussions.

I have also edited Workshop Manual component descriptions and illustrations into the original post, above, to improve Forum member awareness.

Interesting that 2020 models were rolling out so early in the year while 2019's were still being built. Mine was built in August of 2019 so apparently not affected by the recall. I did check the VIN against Ford's recall site and nothing listed.

As an update, my vehicle, which has already had the driver's side replaced and repaired, just had the passenger seatbelt warning light go on. I contacted Ford and they said to get it to the dealer ASAP for repair. I took it to my local Ford dealer, they kept the vehicle for a week, then called and told me because they have to wait for Ford to give permission and allocate the parts, they cannot repair it. I explained they already fixed my driver's side and it is dangerous to drive the vehicle, but they didn't care.
So now I have a vehicle with a dangerous exploding part that will deploy in the coming weeks and Ford released it knowing the potential of the explosion.

There are only 12 to 16 of these devices in our Expeditions. And I can tell you, from my personal experience, there is a good possibility that you will lose control of your vehicle, if you are driving on an interstate or busy road going 35 to 65+ mph, when it goes off. The loud shotgun type bang along with the 3-to-4-inch tightening of the belt and enormous Sound Pressure Level inside the cab, will disorient you enough to lose control of the vehicle, not to mention it can have a serious effect on people with heart problems.
Ford needs to escalate the repair before they have injuries or, even worse, casualties.

You must not drive with babies/young children.

I got the recall letter in the mail but I dont intend on having my vehicle sit at the dealer for months over the summer hust to switch out a seat belt part. Im also used to loud exploding sounds while driving

@Mr Big 's update is supremely timed because Ford's Safety Recall 24S06 Full Dealer Bulletin is just now available, though it's release has not yet been highlighted via Ford's Professional Technician System (PTS) website used by dealership Service personnel -- but this communication will likely occur on Monday, June 24th...
