They would be great candidates for 100 percent electric like Chevy volt. Just remember to plug it in, no oil changes, just brakes, simple stuff.

FYI, Volts have a gasoline motor and take 3.7 quarts of oil at their complicated intervals. Its the (from $37K) Bolt that is 100% electric similar, to the (from $30K) Nissan Leaf.

Regarding this thread. As-is, where-is with all faults surely with your signature.

Your right, I must have had a brain fart, happens when you live as long as me. Don't know why I thought the volt wasn't a hybrid. Well a Nissan Leaf then, or if money's there, a Tesla!

FOLLOW UP

This morning I wrote up my views on what has happened so far, for documentation - court purposes.

I wanted to do this and email myself BEFORE contacting the dealer. There is too much verbal he said-she said, so I am documenting everything to myself.

1) As I said yesterday, the warranty company declined the claim for engine problems. Called it preexisting. They are right, but for some reason the dealer thought it would be covered.

2) I contacted the dealer about two hours after documenting current status. I told them I was declined. He seemed surprised

3) Dealer said this is only the second to be declined and that he knew the Account Manager at the warranty company, and would contact them. I am not optimistic, but as I said before, I am following a Step 1, Step 2, Step 3 approach. He said he would call me back with status. So I am patiently waiting.

WHY DON'T YOU JUST TAKE IT BACK ALL YOU ARE DOING IT MAKING IT HARD ON YOURSELF

YOU COULD SPEND MONTHS IN A COURT BATTLE AND STILL NOT HAVE A EXPEDITION TO DRIVE

OR YOU COULD END UP SPENDING A LOT OF MONEY OUT OF YOUR POCKET.

WHY DO YOU WANT A VEHICLE THAT HAS THE PROBLEMS THAT YOU FIND THIS ONE HAS.

YOU WERE SCAMMED AND NOW YOU ARE BEING CLUELESS AS TO WHAT THIS IS GOING TO COST YOU.

AND REALLY WHY DO YOU WANT TO GO THROUGH ALL OF THIS

He must have his reasons, I agree, I would just do a 180, and bring it back. Some people like to complicate things, that's their business.

Its almost like Dallas and Falconcrest, TV shows of the 70's. I can't wait until next week to find out what the outcome is.

Looking back at the original post ant the last word he posted was

I do appreciate Rcanfiel following up. So many of these die and we don't know if given advice helped the poster. We have 3-4 engine replacement questions posted the last week or so. They post and they go.

Get used to it Snag. Only about 40 percent follow up on their findings, or fix it and don't have the decency to let the people that reached out to them, say I fixed it, your advice was spot on. That would be too easy.

Courtesy would be nice, of all the websites, this one is the only one worth being on. It was like back in the 70's when we all yakked on the Cb radio, we had one channel, 13 was the one that stood out, we were like a family, it was cool. This forum kinda reminds me of that.

I have been looking for a Exp EL for 2-3 months now, just found this site and now reading this horror story and you guys responses I am wondering if its the right type of vehicle to buy used... I have been looking for a 07-08 with as close to 100K as I can get for $10K... but what I am hearing on here is that is a potential disaster...there are not many of the EL's around western NY so I have been extending my search 3-4-500 miles out...now you guys have me scared to look at anything farther then 50 miles away! whats the real deal here...is the 5.4 that touchy?

Yes they can be. One story would be well that guy didn't take care of his vehicle. But 4 or more, that's a reason for concern. Their have been many that have not had issues at all with the 3 valve motors Years 2005-2010, but others did. Best advice is have it thoroughly looked over preferably by a dealer or top quality shop that knows these vehicles, and shy away from any with engine or transmission noise during your test drives.
