Seafoam to reduce rough idle? Yeah?

"see manufacturers recommendations"...

Yes, run a full 28 gallon tank of seafoam.... Your smoke will turn seafoam green... :rotflmao::rotflmao:

all joking aside,... 1/3rd to 1/2 tank is good (better)... IMO

did the vacuum line method (twice)... That was awesome (the looks I got)...

I think I need to do it again though... Lighter color blue smoke was coming out after a while -- at first it was a massive white cloud that was still rising over the rooftops, driving out of the neighborhood... I think I'll keep doing it until the blue smoke goes away (obviously oily dirt washing out)

This rig had the valve cover gaskets replaced just before I got it & maybe that was the 'hot' smells I was smelling?... after the seafoam, not smelling it much now.. Hope further treatments well help further....

And yes, I was able to notice the difference in idle (absolutely)... can't feel anything when it's running now... (over the last few weeks I've been able to detect a slight roughness coming back -- after the plugs / cops were changed)

Also have a thought (just a thought) on driving it out on the road vs. letting it sit at idle & rev the motor.. I only got the massive cloud when I drove it... 1st time at idle didn't do much at all... Probably better to drive, making sure all that crap is 'exiting' the system, rather than possibly building up a residue somewhere?.. just a thought...?

Update:

I've put two bottles in now...

Each time, I got nothing in the 1st half bottle sip... the second sip created the cloud... ?? Still getting blue smoke so I think I'll go for a 3rd bottle & call it a day...

this time (on the 2nd sip) I kept it in the driveway & rev'd the motor... (massive smoke) so I think my previous "thought" was bogus... (sorry)...

Just reporting here... FYI

B.t.w... I used a length of 5/16" fuel line I had left over from my fuel filter $*#% cluster $*@&$... put it in the brake booster vacuum line (which fit perfectly) and stuck the open end in the bottle of seafoam... (no need for 2 people to do this... -- as stated in other threads?... fyi)...

IMO seems to be cleaning the upper valves etc. as advertised.... ?? we'll see...

OK, so I dropped a bottle into the tank today (tank was almost empty) and then added about 8 gallons of fuel. Right as I was about to pull away some guy in a really nice BMW convertible pulled up right behind me, and figuring I was about to choke out a bunch of carbon I got out of the truck and suggested he back up as I didn't want his ride getting dirty...got back in the truck, started her up..and nothing! nada! Nilch! Then I drove her about 10 miles to the audio place to have my systems installed (different thread to come) and not even the tiniest little puff of smoke to be seen! What gives? I thought this stuff was supposed to really smoke?????

not in the fuel tank...it does that when you put it in a line to the engine or vaccum line...

yup what he said.... in the tank is just like regular fuel cleaner additive... but if you do the vaccum way you can smoke the mosquitoes out of the county for a day or two...lol
