Security settings are not saved after they are changed. Dog sets off motion alarm.

My dog alone in the back seat triggers the alarms when we leave it. I go in to settings and turn OFF motion detection, leave the truck and all is fine. However the next time I start the truck the settings have all returned to "on" which I presume is default. Why aren't these changes saved and permanent? Why have them if you have to go through the entire menu process to disable them every time you turn off the vehicle?? (Yes the weather is very cold outside).

Answer is really simple... most people don't leave live moving animals in their vehicles and then lock it. It also ensures that the added layer of theft prevention is always on, unless commanded to be off. Ford was smart enough to make sure it prompts us as soon as we turn off the vehicle. I'd hate to have to dig into the settings once I'm parked and before I turned the vehicle off, every time I wanted to disable motion sense.

"Most"? I don't think so. Yes we dog owners know enough not to leave our animals in a hot car. If temps are moderate we crack open windows. If cold enough we leave the windows closed. And then we lock the doors so as not to lose our pets to a curious passer-by.

I'm disappointed that I can't permanently turn-off the inside sensors, but at least I learned today that if I set the system to Always Ask and then make certain that when I shut-down I select Perimeter Only at least I can keep doggo from causing the Expy to go berserk.

Why can we turn off the "Check back seat for occupants" warning but not set "Perimeter sensors only" as default. C'mon Ford, do better.

I think that it can be done with programming. I am a GSD owner, I can leave my Expedition wide open, doors unlocked, windows down. No car alarm needed. Someone put sticky fingers in there, the fingers stay in the car! Period. Never felt the need to lock my open truck. I mean with the windows down, you just reach in and open the door anyway. Lol
