Hello, I have a 2004 Expedition with the 5.4. It was recently stolen. When I got it back, the steering column was pretty mangled. I purchased a used column with key from a reputable source and installed it without much issue.

I have not bolted it all the way in, as I wanted to make sure it worked before tightening everything down. The only thing not hooked up, is the gear indicator. Mine was cut, the new one was also, I have to figure that out too. I dont know if that makes a difference.

When I hooked up the battery, everything powers up, all the switches on the column work, but i cant get the starter to engage. Im 99% sure this is a security system issue. As soon as i turn the key to the ON position, the red security system light on the dash blinks fastly.

Is there any way to bypass this? or what steps do I need to take?
Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks In Advance!

You'll have to get the PATS reflashed by the dealer so it'll recognize the key.

Hmmm.

With my 2000 expy I inadvertently lost my pats code when my sct device locked up while flashing a program.

It would crank all day long but would not start. It was accompanied by the rapidly flashing theft light.

You may be able to get a locksmith to re-program it for you and most will come to your house rather than you having it towed to the dealer Check it out

Thanks for the help guys. I figured I would have to take it to a dealer. I will try the locksmith route first though...
