What is the expected lifetime on one of these?

The reason I ask if this morning when I started the truck up I noticed it was idling a little lower than it usually does, I popped the hood open and noticed the belt is not spinning as fast as it usually does.

Could it also have anything to do with the MAF sensor or TPS?

Also I have been experiencing some very poor fuel mileage... lower than what I believe I should be getting, any suggestions on what this might mean?

NC, if the engine is spinning slower, the serpentine belt will move slower as the belt is driven off of the engine. The only way that the belt can cause the engine to idle slower is if the A/C compressor is starting to sieze and is putting a lot of drag on the engine. Even then, the computer will normally cause the idle air control valve to simply open up more to raise the idle back to where it should be. I would venture to guess that your IAC is getting gummed up and sticking a little bit. Do you notice the RPMs jumping around about 200 RPM or so when at idle? If yes, clean the IAC and then see what happens. After that, clean the MAF and the throttlebody.

Lets see where things are at that point and we'll go from there.

I will examine this in the morning, thanks for the input. Make sure to say a prayer for those who lost their lives on 9/11
