I am looking to ship a car from NJ to Cal. I know it is an unregulated industry and their are a great deal of "Logistics" companies on the internet that can do this. Most seem to be brokers working ou tof their basments.

I would like to load the car onto the truck in NJ and unload it off the same truck in California.

Any recommendations? Cost?

Used Passport several years ago with no regrets. Dallas to Pittsburgh. From what I learned you'll pay a little less if you can meet at a truck stop or a large parking lot off the interstate, like a mall or shopping area. Passport did change trailers and a different driver delivered it. They were very professional, I recall being impressed with how detail oriented they were. I'd use them again and probably not even shop around if the need ever arises. Shipped a very clean low-mileage 1996 Bronco from Dallas to Pittsburgh, about 1200 miles if I were to have trailered it myself. Seems like it took 3-4 days and was right at $1000, maybe $1100? They had quicker options but the cost really reflected it. Residential or small towns where 18-wheelers are challenged will cost you much more.

NJ to CA on the same trailer will probably be closer to double, I'd expect $2K ballpark if not $2500.

The though of putting it on my trailer and towing it to California behind the Expedition ... I think I would need to set aside two weeks! Could possible be fun... but probably not ...
