I have this 2000 Ford Expe XLT 4x2 and looking to replace the orig. shocks front and rear. Which ones would you recommend ???

Note:
1. Stock Height
2. Replaced rear Airbags with Eibach Springs (direct conversion)
3. Use only on paved roads. No offroading on this one.

Many Thanks!!!

You can't go wrong with bilstein, rancho, or monroe reflex . I run the reflex on our expy. Great shock good ride. Even offroad. I run bilstein remote reseviors currently of my offroad rig and love it. I had the 5150 series prior to them. Also a top of the line shock

I really like my Edelbrock IAS shocks but don't think you can get them for the expy anymore.

Very happy with my Bilstein shocks all around. The handling difference as well as the ride were very noticeable.

If you're going to go with Rancho or most other brands, avoid the cheapest in the lineup.

The Rancho RS5000 are junk. In contrast, the RS9000 were the best shocks that I've ever had on any vehicle

did you remove the factory shocks when you installed your bilstiens? did you have any control or body roll, or dive issues on a turn before putting on the new shocks? how is control now?

Yeah I had some serious dive issues and general control at highway speeds around corners. I believe the shocks that came out were the originals with about 130k miles on them. :(

It's possible any new shock would have solved that issue, but more than once now a passenger has noticed that it was extremely stable on a particularly bumpy road that their car didn't feel too good on.

Also highway handling and dive issues are completely gone.

Thanks for the detailed reply...I for got about the terrible freeway driving...it is horrible on the freeway...especially taking a slight curve at 75 mph with the cruise...its a white knuckle experience...I was really leaning heavy into the bilsteins, now for sure your comments make me feel good about pulling the trigger on these.

Hey man, I wrote up a detailed post on the Bilsteins I installed last year. Still love them and highly recommend them. Good luck!

71R, I knew someone did write something, but I didnt remember...so I thought I would nose in on this one....I have some real handling issues....almost dont want to use on the freeway for trips...because its all over the place and I almost have to slow to a crawl for a freeway off ramp..

Mine has the special service package, dont know if anything is different than a regular Expy...but I only have 105k and the front end is tight and got good tires..so im hoping these bilstiens correct the problem...I still have the factory originals on it.

I recommend the Monroe coil over conversion. Shocks are nice, coils smoother, ride heigth is a little bit higher but looks nice.

Cant beat the price either.

As for ball joints, Moog isnt the company they used to be. They are now in Mexico, not made in USA.

I recommend the Spicer, which is branded Raybestos Professional Grade. Made in USA and every trucker I checked recommended them. I put them on and could feel the difference right away, plus they have the fitting for greasing unlike OEM which are sealed.

Grease fitting, that's gotta be good right. I have not seen a grease fitting since, since, since....
Spicer makes good products, high quality.
