So I went to church with the A4WD on...

All right, my expedition is of course really big. So when I pull out of the driveway, sometimes a rear wheel will come off of the ground and start spinning. Whenever that happens, I just turn on A4WD for a little bit to get out. However... this morning, I forgot to turn it off.

So, I drove all the way to church before I realized it was on, I don't think I went above 70mph but 60 sounds like a lot for the 4wd components! D:

The manual doesn't warn you about driving on drive pavement for A4WD, only 4WD HI and LO, so am I okay? I tried turning it on and off a while later at about 25mph, and it seemed to work, made a little bit of a grinding noise, but it's hard to tell because you can only hear it engage, not disengage.

Other than that, though... it's been going great! Sure, I'm still rocking that 9.4MPG, but for the sake of weight loss I've been going to the mall every day to walk and the AC works, the heat works, the mirror defrosters work, the rear wiper works, the only thing that's broken so far is the stupid lumbar support knob on my seat, and I refuse to pay 30 bucks for a new one on ebay so I'll fix that myself some other time.

You'll be fine, my mother in law drove with A4WD for 10 years straight and my wife recently drove my expy in A4WD for the month she had it.

Also personally I never cared for the top speed suggested for 4x4 HI, I once was late for a very important meeting and it was a blizzard out, still in 4x4 Hi I was doing an average 75 mph on the highway and I never had a problem with my 4x4 before and after that

I used to have a gen 1 and it didn't even have a 2WD option so always ran in A4WD (when not in 4x4 modes). There was a time when I ran my 2nd gen in A4WD because it seemed like it was noisy in 2WD. It has since quieted down and I now usually keep her in 2WD on the road.

As stated, I would not worry, a lot of people just leave it permanently in A4WD and never have an issue. 4x4 Hi is a different matter as that does have the transmission in full 4 wheel drive (AWD only engages 4 wheel drive when it senses slip, so most of the time AWD is actually 2WD!) and 4x4 Hi can cause the differentials to get a bit warm if you run at high speed or have a lot of turns. I have been over 70mph in 4x4 hi multiple times and never heard any strange noises so again it will not harm in short bursts but don't leave it permanently in 4x4 hi!

I think moose ment to say awd, 4lo,4hi not 2 lo 2 hi.... hes driving a civilian class expedition not a semi truck whereas he has low gears and hi gears in 2wd mode
