Good day, I just want to ask if there is a chance of breaking spark plugs while removing them on a 4.6L engine. I was thinking of replacing them myself but saw videos on you tube showing that their plugs broke at the tip and they needed an extractor to get the broken piece. Is this true? How do I prevent this from occurring ? Will soaking it in carb cleaner help? Thank you very much.

Soak them in PB blaster not carb cleaner and as far as if you have the two piece plugs that commonly break you'd have tell us what year your Expy is. It's always possible to break a plug but not very likely if your careful unless you have those two piece ones.

Checked your past post. It appears you have a 1st gen expy and they do not have this issue as Jeff was saying. Its the spark plugs used in the 3v motors that commonly break.

Thank ou very much mine is a 2000 expy with still an unresolved issue of slight misfire that on occasion turns into a worse misfire that the engine barely runs at all. It improves after you switch it off and restarts again after a few minutes. It has a 4.6 triton. I only use it once a month and i just bought it 2 years ago. Codes read were a mix of different results. I just want to do it the simple way _by making a cylinder balance test. Thanks guys for your replies appreciate it!

Hi Docraymund, you're issue seems me familiar to me, i got a friend that had the same problem and changing the camshaft sensor fixed it. Think about it, it can be lot of things
