Are the plugs in the 99 5.4 better or a diffrent design than the newer ones I have been reading about that are a pain and break off when you replace?

Better in the fact that their a one piece vs two piece on 3 valve engines up to early 2008. Problem is early first gen heads are lacking enough threads on heads, so proper torquing is critical. Rumor has it that 03l04 5.4 heads had additional threads.

The best way to remove the rear sparkplugs is with acid. It took me a while to figure this out

I know I'm going to hate myself for asking, but acid? Where are you pouring this caustic substance, and why? I've heard a lot of different potions to use over the years, but that's a new one. I'm all ears!
