Hello all....I have a 1997 Expedition that I am putting a new radio and amps in my Expedition the problem is it doesnt have the factory radio. Ive heard that they came with a factory amp, ive looked for it but I cant find it. Does any know if that year came with a foctory amp and if so where is it at. And does anyone know what the color of the dore speakers are so I can make sure I have positive with positive when I run the speaker wires from the amps im installing...
thanks for the help

look in where the radio goes. look down and youll see the amp. your best bet is to run all new speaker wires to a new 4 channel. unless you feel like ripping your dash part. (they dont like to go back in easily)

Yep, I agree. Start from scratch on all the wiring, it's more work to deal with all that factory wiring.

As long as you hook up an aftermarket plug in adapter for the stock harness you will be fine. You can check the door speakers by pulling the speakers out and doing a battery test. You can hook up wires to the speaker and the + and - of the battery and figure out which one is which based on how the speaker pushes in or out. If the speaker pushes out you have positive and negative hooked up correct. Then figure out from the stock harness in the doors which wire hooks up to which post. You can cut the stock speaker connector and tap those wires. The after market wire harness hook up should allow you to connect your after market head unit wires to the stock wires. Unless you are pushing a lot of wattage and much better after market speakers there is no need to run your own wires.
