spyder gears in rear end moved during axle replacement

I have a 1997 v8 ford expedition. The pin for the gear alignment will not go in because the gears moved while it was out. How do I align the gears so that the pin can be reinserted?

I've never personally done this but have looked at a fair amount of videos when I was contemplating doing a gear change myself. Here's a link to a video on Youtube that describes what you're trying to do pretty nicely. Jump forward to around 10:15 to where he starts talking about getting the spyder gears back in and how to align them.
