Hi all! New expedition owner here and could use some help! I have 2018 max bought in April. Since buying it has stalled out on me while driving 5 times! It has been taken to the dealer multiple times to have things replaced and 99% sure it’s fixed for it to only happen again! I’ve had the fuel rail pressure sensor replaced, wiring resealed and cleaned and most recently the fuel pump module replaced. It stalls upon accelerating while going at a steady speed for a bit and usually when we have been driving for over 30 mins at a time. Has this happened to anyone else????

Hasn’t happened to me ( Expy owner for 13 months). How many miles does yours have? Maybe spark plugs, coil packs, or fuel injectors need replacement.

Once is stalls does it restart right away? Are there any warning lights on the dash that go off when it happens? I am sure the dealer tech has connected to it with the diagnostic tool and checked for codes and looked at data to try and solve the issue. It may take them driving it until it happens and then leaving it in the stalled condition to figure out what's wrong.

Yes, the dash says it is in accessory mode. I have to turn the car off and let it cool for about 5 mins and it will start back up after a few tries. Taken to the dealer every time it has happened- they drive it and of course it doesn’t replicate for them. Very frustrating, this has happened while on the expressway a few times. Luckily able to get to a shoulder to regroup.

First thing, get yourself an OBD II scanner, and see what error codes are in the computer. I find it dubious that they aren't finding anything themselves.

Secondly, take a video the next time it happens, so you have irrefutable evidence.

Is it happening when your truck down shifts? A bad trans/ torque converter can cause your truck to stall.

I love my expedition but these 10 speed transmissions are complete trash.

I had a similar issue a few years ago with my 2016 expy. I would be driving at any speed and the " monkey wrench " warning light would flash. Lost almost all power. If I shut off the engine and wait a few minutes it would start back up as if nothing was wrong. Then at some point it would happen again. Dealer , of course , found no codes and nothing wrong. Tried to sell me a tune-up and a fuel injector flush !! Ha . What a joke. In the end I found out via this forum that the throttle body was the most likely culprit. It was an easy change out and most importantly it worked !
