Hey everyone, So in my available time I've been trying to get my 98 Navigator road ready. I drove it down the road again today to bring it to a local mechanic for my VIN verify. Anyway, when I drive it I notice how ridiculously easy the steering is. I don't mean it is loose, I mean it's touchy and requires litterally no effort to turn. Not sure I like it. Is this the norm for my vehicle? I'm sure I'l get used to it once I start driving it regularly, but man is it touchy.

Your steering pump has EVO which is an electric valve that opens and closes based on vehicle speed. If the valve is not closing at higher speed like it should, you will have too much power assist and it will feel very touchy.

Thanks for the info! I have been driving it mostly under 30 mph as its not yet registered so I will have to see how it goes.

Mine also seems pretty touchy- even at high speeds. I'll look into the EVO valve.

As I learn this truck more. Yes, that is normal. As is lane wandering and the rear jumping on bumps. Its about how long the wheelbase is. a small change in your turning makes a bigger difference than in a short wheelbase vehicle.

I go from a Kia Rio5 to a 98 Expy. I feel like I am going to roll over when I turn the expy.
