I own a 2006 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer and ever since I got it in mid 2010 I have been wanting to do a few things to do... Finally I went ahead and did it.

Installed remote start, single button round remote from Compustar, here is the one I picked:

http://www.compustar.com/products/pro/RF-P1B-SS.html

The next thing I wanted was a new deck but in doing so I wanted the following:

-Keep steering wheel controls
-Keep factory DVD player
-Keep factory wireless head phones
-Control an iPod from my stereo (cable from back of the stereo in the glove box)
-Wanted an AUX input on the stereo itself just in case
-Wanted Bluetooth music streaming
-Wanted Bluetooth handsfree for talking on the phone
-Wanted the stereo to match the size (double din) and the colors

All of the above was met by installing the following JVC head unit:

http://mobile.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MODL028629&pathId=148&page=3

The tricky part was keeping the factory DVD player AND the factory wireless headphones functional, I am happy to report they both work great. Steering wheel controls work perfect too.

Last, I had heated seats installed, I love those!

I wanted to do this myself but because of time and because I wanted it done right I decided to use Kingpin in Wilsonville, those guys sure do great work, I would certainly recommend them. FYI they did not ask me to post this but I just thought I would share the name because everyone always has such a hard time doing aftermarket stereo with dvd player + headphones and these guys got it done for me.

Excellent, what module was used to retain the steering wheel controls? The PAC module or the Metra module?

Yes there are kits on Ebay and other site and they are bout 100.00 for the two front seats. Its easy to put in and i have put in a couple sets. They work really well and actually get hotter than the factory set. Most of them have a factory looking switch with a high and low setting.

PAC was used to retain the steering wheel controls and I'm pretty happy with that.

As far as the heated seats I paid 469.00 for the pair installed that's bottom and back cushions. Yes you can do it yourself if you are handy but I'm not nor I have the time. Mine have a high and a low setting and I sure like them!

Overall I'm very happy with the upgrades... this summer I will be installing 22 inch wheels. I have already painted the mirror covers to match the color of the car and that makes a huge difference!

What else could I do?

Good info, thanks. I want to get seatwarmers but want to find stock looking switches and places to put them. Are the switches you have fully electric or is it a manual switch so the warmer won't time out?

I have an 05 with the factory Nav, it appears you do not, question is there a unit I can get to replace mine that will have radio, Nav, MP3, paired phone? It seems that I may not be able to and will have to stick with this antiquated HU. Doug

I don't see why you couldn't install another navigation unit that's after market. I just didn't have one to begin with and I didn't want one either. Jvc actually makes double din navigation stereos I could have used in the same way mine was used.

Good luck!

The heated seats won't time out they are either on or off. They have to settings a high for which it turns a red light or a low for which it turns a green light. So if you leave them on you remote start your vehicle you get in it your seats are nice and toasty.

MY QUESTION NOW.. IS THERE HEATED AND COOLED SEATS? I HAD THESE IN MY LINCOLN AND I THINK THIS WOULD BE BEST FOR TX WEATHER?

RTX THERES ALOT OF DECKS THAT YOU CAN USE BUT I DO BELIEVE YOU WILL HAVE TO USE THE AFTERMARKET GPS ANTENNA AND AS THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT ABOVE, AND A FEW OTHER GUYS HAD PROBLEMS FINDING WIRING A HARNESS BECAUSE OF THE FACTORY NAV

I just cut the little flip down dome mirror out of the roof console (leaving the outside of the door with clip attached) and installed a small garmin (or Magein) to the back of the door where the mirror used to be. When I want the GPS, I flip it down, most of the time it is folded closed and out of the way. Cost $30 on ebay for the used GPS and a half hour with a dremmel and wiring.

I have installed an after market Nav with BT and iPod and such. It was a custom job as they don't make a wiring harness or dash kit for it. Here is a pic.

Nice that is exactly what I'm after. I contacted a Audio dealer one town over and they do have that Pioneer double din unit that will fit in my 05. Only thing after the cost of the HU I need to purchase a harness so my steering wheel controls will work as well as the sub. They need to check the truck to see if the factory dvd will still operate as well. Doug
