Anyone notice that the CCD Expeditions sit lower than the non-CCD versions?

I happened to be at the grocery store when two other Expys parked right next to me. One was an XLT and the other was a Limited. Mine sat about an 1 or 2 lower. I noticed it at both the side mirrors and the rear bumper.

Is this normal or is my suspension f’d up somehow?

BTW, I saw the driver of the Limited and unless her looks are deceiving, it did not have any lift applied. I am confident that these are stock soccer-mom, grocery getter owners.

The shock spring packages are completely different on them, so I could imagine one would be a bit shorter and I would expect it to be the premium packages as they control the ride better.

A lot of stock vehicles ride height can vary over factory based upon how they were transported, quality of the shocks / springs, how they settled over time. A lot of 4x4ing or towing might lower the vehicle over time due to spring wear too.

Maybe even getting a slightly lower spec'd version of both spring and shock?

Can't imagine it would the fact the XLT might have less options and near empty gas tank? Do you have a lot of kit in your truck?

Also, a lot of parking lots are not level.

Just 'speculatin on a hypothesis here :)

Mine was near empty — I had an empty cooler since I was at the store getting ice and a duffle bag of clothes, so maybe around 100 pounds, if that. Although many parking lots are for crap, we were all three in a row with very little variance to impact the height difference. I wish now that I took a pic.

I agree with the options since I have the 303a package which is basically a massage seat away from Platinum.

Now, Ian makes a good point. 4x2 versus 4x4. I do have a 4x4 with HD tow package. That could be some of the “extra” weight to bring my overall height down a bit add that to the “softer” CCD suspension and we have have the winning algorithm, boys.
