Sub, speakers, amp. HELP!!!

first id like to note this is my first post okay so i am not a car person at all and researching gets me frustrated since I don't understand a lot of what's being described.

I have recently acquired a new deck to install into my 2001 expedition sport utility. I also want to get amazing quality front doors and side doors speakers, a new kickass amp and 2 subs or maybe one (not sure if 1 has enough kick for a large suv like the expedition. I also would like to keep as much space behind the 3rd row because I coach and need to put gear there. please help me out I am stuck!!

Any good stereo shop would be able to tell you what you need. But you would have to do some research to make sure that they aren't ripping you off too. Since you have the 2001, that means you don't have a lot of room behind the seat. You could put a sub under the middle seats in a custom box. (They do have them already made as well, just have to look them up). MTX is a great sub and for the doors... there are many to choose from. One sub should be good enough. Unless you want a lot of bass. I like to hear my music more than my bass but I like it to sound good and be even. I can look more into it and give you more of an idea. What kind of deck did you get?

I'm not sure about what exact deck it is but i got it from Sony. for the speakers what kind do I want if I'm getting a separate subwoofer. do I need a component system speakers or just regular after market speakers etc. and any recommendations on speakers for the door? I'm trying to get as much as I can off amazon because I have 170$ worth of trade in credit that's why I'm not goin to an audio place just yet.

first things first, set a budget on how much you would like to spend, next are you comfortable swapping out the stereo? and second what sixe is the stereo (single din or double din) there are at least 30 of us on here that could walk you thru the process easily.

on the door speakers I'd wait till you swapped out the head unit and see if you still dont like them. most ppl are content with the better quality sound from an aftermarket deck (myself included) if your not quite where you want to be at that point door speakers are hella easy to change out too unless your adding an additional amplifier then it gets labor intensive.

as far as sub and amp once again budget comes into play here if you want a neat box that will tuck away it will cost more than a generic box made for a 10" sub. what are you looking for little vibrating your seat or alot vibrating the parking lot?

I can tell you that MOOTOO is right. I usually only add an amp and sub to an after market head unit and the stock door speakers work and sound great. One thing to know is if you do keep the stock door speakers, it would be a good idea to put bass blockers on them so they don't get blown by too much bass. Especially since that is what you have the sub for. Bass blockers are only $15-$30 if not cheaper.

I am probably only going to get one 10 or 12 inch sub. what kind of custom box if any will fit underneath the middle row?

as for the speakers, I'll hold off right now, it'll help me on the budget for a sub. Do I need to install an aftermarket amplifier if I get a sub?

Here is a site for a sub, it already has a 10" sub, and it doesn't take up space in your truck so you can still use all the space available.

the clarion camouflage custom subwoofer where it goes in the back right cargo net area is ideal for me. that way I get to keep all of my trunk space. however, it is said that it's discontinued for some reason. is discontinued on that site? or is the manufacture actually not making them anymore.

good catch on the bass blockers!, there are enclosures (just the box-$250) preloaded (enclosere+subwoofer-$350) and amplified (subwoofer+amplifier+enclosure all in one-$550) just as pictured. my personal preference for these would be the JL stealthbox hands down and 2nd place would go to the MTX thunderform. and keep in mind they come in different colors to match your interior

or you could just do a generic slot ported/bandpass box and a 10 and come out a little cheaper

Lots of ways, just up to you as to what you want and how much you want to spend. I like to do things the cheapest (but not too cheap to where they don't last or it sounds like crap) and most practical use of space.
