I have a ‘18 limited with the 12 speaker b&o system. It sounds great, but needs more bass. I joined to ask if anyone has upgraded their system yet, if there are any aftermarket boxes yet, or anything similar. Those rear panels are a pita to remove, so I don’t want to rip apart the truck until I’ve got a plan for what is going back in.
Thanks!

I added a Rockford Fosgate P300-12 Punch 300 Watt Powered Loaded 12-Inch Subwoofer Enclosure to my 2017 Expy. Ran a 6 gauge wire from the battery to the amp. Took hi-level sound from pass door speaker and found a switched wire in the floorboard wiring harness.

It has an adjustable knob so I can adjust the bass. This unit will shake everything in your truck if you want.

Just built a custom box to replace the middle seat in my 07 EB. I used a 1024 JBL stadium with a 650w class D mono Infinity Reference Amp. The 10" is fantastic and really cleans up the sound. I also upgraded the door speakers with Hertz and that helped a ton as well. You can get bottom end Hertz door speakers that are fairly priced and sound extremely well, and they are a major upgrade to the stock speakers. I did use a 3 farrad cap and I also did the Big 3 Upgrade for wiring. Because of the long power runs, I highly recommend upgrading the big 3's and also using a Cap.

The irony is that imho B&O delivers the worst value when it comes to audio, just looks, no sound. At least 20years ago....avoided them wherever....now in my soon-to-be-car....lol

If you just want a sub, then tap into the speaker wires for the back doors to grab a bass signal. Everything is behind that left body panel at the cargo area.

I just did a full upgrade with Hybrid Audio Legatia, Audio Control amps, and a JL 10W6 in a ported enclosure. The Nav-TV interface is the best, and really only option.

Sounds much better than the stock setup.

If all you want is a sub, tap right into the sub wire, it will be crossed over properly and ready to go. Any mono or stereo bridged amp will work. Put 2 or 3 12W7s and call it a day.

Are you talking pre amp or post amp? because if you are talking pre amp, doing it that way will not work with any amp. It will only work that way with amps that have unbalanced inputs (expensive ones)
Best bet is What @NASCAR Mike said in post #7.
I personally would go a step further and use a LOC.

What are you talking about? RCA inputs are unbalanced! I wasn’t talking pre anyway. Talking post. Get an amp with high level inputs or a separate high level to low level adapter. No need to grab a full range signal from the door when you are ONLY adding a sub. Go ahead and grab a crossed over signal

Also who is to say the door speakers aren’t crossed over for mids and highs? The may have the lower octaves taken out so the play cleaner and louder without distortion while the sub handles the bass.

I only had one Bang and Olufsen item, a home turntable I bought back in early nineties. Sounded great in mids and high end, but no bottom end. Also I had the top moving magnet cartridge that was $900.00 for both, not cheap for those days. The cartridge burned out in less than 30 hours of playing, of course out of warranty. Not real impressed with B&O. Used to be Denmark origin, probably from China these car speakers. Shame we keep running into OEM garbage.

There is only a couple brands (expensive) that are unbalanced(RCA) imput. most are balanced(RCA) input to work with aftermarket head units.

RCA connections are unbalanced, period. it takes 3 conductors for a balanced audio connection like XLR. are you referring to something else?

All of the aftermarket car audio amps Accept A incoming balanced signal. only a few accept the incoming unbalanced signal from the stock head unit.

Your terminology is off. I’m not quite sure what you are saying. I think you are interchanging the words balanced and unbalanced with amplified and unamplified. Because that statement would be correct, I would say most amps do not accept amplified (high level) inputs. Although there are many that do. Audio control has several incredible amps that accept low and high level signal inputs.
