I have a superchips max microtuner and wondered if anyone has had much power/fuel economy improvements tuning an '03 5.4 expy. Also, what is the best way to disable the fuel system? I read that punching the inertia fuel pump switch works but I'd rather not.

Why? if you need to pull your fuel filter, just disco the batt cable and flip on your lights to drain any left over volts and then remove the filter, it will only shoot a little out when first discoed.

when i plug my superchips max microtuner in, it says disable fuel system. when i had my 2000 f150 5.4 i would just ignore it and it would let me tune anyway. Now with my 2003 expy 5.4, if I ignore it, it won't let me tune. It says "cannot tune because fuel system has not been disabled." It's superchips model 1715 which is supposed to be compatible up to 2003.

On that note, any ideas on the best way to disable the fuel system? The fuel relay is #303 and is "not a serviceable relay" according to the manual. Also, the inertia cutoff switch is only visible enough to push the reset button. To unplug it, I would have to remove he whole rear panel.

I have already called superchips and the consensus was that I need to take the "non-servicable" relay out or disconnect the harness on the bottom of the inertia switch. I was just hoping someone would have a less time consuming way of doing it. Does anyone else disable the fuel to tune?

Thanks for your help guys. Really appreciate it. I think im actually going to update my tuner. I'm leaning towards the sct sf3 which has 3 canned tunes and ability to get some custom tunes later if i want. Any thoughts or experience on which tuner would be ideal? Also, not sure if it makes a difference but truck has a brute force CAI and throttle body spacer.
