Suspension Upgrade Needed

Hey folks,

2010 Limited EL...picked her up pre-owned in '12 she had 30k on her..Truck has been serviced by dealership for all maintenance per factory spec..she just hit 150k..all warranties are gone..ready to get rid on the stock look..I have rebuilt a few things but in no way I am an expert.

Wanna do a little lift and some bigger tires...has 20" inch wheels on it now. This truck stays mostly on the pavement and for towing..I have a lifted Jeep YJ for running trails...

Thinking rancho kits since I am still on original shocks and springs they all need replaced.I have fold down running boards anybody know what size shoes I can get on her with the 20s and that lift?

The Rancho Quick Lift is a nice solution. Tunability of the shock dampening is more useful than I'd have expected on-road. I stiffen the rear shocks 2 clicks when towing.

Installation is easy enough, though they don't recommend their kit for the EL. I swapped my factory coils to the Rancho shocks when installing on my 2010 EL without issue.

I have the fixed running boards and fit 34" tires on factory 18" rims with plenty of clearance. I plan on bumping up the tire size again when this rubber wears out.

Do you have a Quick Lift part number? They don't show the Expy in their down-down choices. What year is your truck?

Interesting...May have to rethink the ranchos. I tow a pretty good bit either camper or trailer with Jeep....guess I will just rebuild my existing struts and go with a ready lift...thanks for the info.

You just extend the ride height arms? That's what I did and it works well or did you come up with something else?

Dunno about Ranchos... mine are starting to piss me the hell off...

All that adjustibility and I still cant find any happy medium between parallel-to-the-ground 2-wheel bounce OR dip-and-sway

I keep mine on 6 or 7 (I forget exactly) and they work well enough, at least for me. I commute on some unreasonably horrible local roads so the softer ride is a good thing.

Maybe it's because my other car is a lowered bimmer, but I haaaaaate "sway/float/roll" so maybe mine are jacked up too high

It's all perspective. My other truck is a caged long travel offroad truck with no sway bars so the Expedition feels, by comparison, rock solid to me. Then I drive my wife's Explorer Sport...
