Switch column shifter to console?

I have a 2006 SSV Expedition XLT. Looking at putting a shifter from a Gen 3.
Has anyone done this. Not finding info in a search. Any one think this is possible to take
the parts from a 07 or 08 and have a console shifter.

I'm going to try it in my 03 but gonna use console from 06 navigator

I've been looking for parts vehicles at my Pick your Part yards. Haven't found a quality donor yet. If you get to doing yours before I do, Please update.

I'd love to ditch the wasteful center console on my Limited and get a column shift - makes it far easier for my wife to get into the back with the kids.
