Sync 3 Update

Anyone have any luck updating their Sync 3? I haven't really thought about a software update for a car, but now that my iPhone no longer pairs I thought I would.

It started happening after iOS 12 update. Neither mine or wife's iPhone pairs via Bluetooth anymore. I tried removing our phones from the Sync 3, but the system just freezes and fails to delete them, so re-pairing is impossible unless I delete them first.

Thus, I thought I should check for an update to Sync 3. I took delivery of the vehicle in March and haven't updated it since. I tried updating via Wi-Fi but continued getting an error message (I mean really, how difficult is it for Ford to update its own software, in its own cars?).

Next I tried the USB route. Downloaded the update to a 32Gb exFat formatted drive. Got another error (LST_ERR05). Sorry to *****, but after a brief search, the web is littered with Sync 3 update issues.

I'll let the dealer worry about it in November when I have them mount my winter tires on. Let them do it on their dime. Troubleshooting software in a car is far too ridiculous at this day and age.

You can do a general system reset. That will delete the phones and any thing else. It will also reset everything back to factory settings which means you will have to go back and reprogram everything to your liking.

Yeah, it seems so. It’s the equivalent of “we’ll have to reinstall Windows”. Remember that?
