So my Expedition is at the body shop due to an unforeseen altercation with a skid steer operator.
That being said it is getting a new wheel installed and when I opened Ford Pass and checked the truck's location I noticed that it had been moved from the body shop to a local tire shop presumably to mount and balance the tire on the new wheel. This led me to asking the question, can you remotely activate vehicle breadcrumbing from the Fordpass app?

Now according the Master Chief Google you cannot do this, but can only do it from inside the vehicle. Do you think with something like Forscan you could enable something like this?
I would be curious to see where my vehicle goes when I'm not the one driving it, especially when it come to extended stays with someone else.

You cannot remotely activate it. Must be done within the vehicle.

No real time tracking? I guess that I am okay with that. I hope to be able to get off the grid some day, be able to stop all pings from my vehicle if necessary. I also need control of my software (as stated in a previous thread) so I can maintain my vehicle when the grid burns.

No apocalyptic dreams or thoughts here, I am just another independent person that thinks ahead and plans to survive whatever may come.

Ford Telematics can track the vehicle, but only Ford has that ability. They claim only with your permission or the proper law enforcement request.

Other than that, it's as Loki states.

If the modem is not actively sending location, they cannot.

And you can turn of location tracking from inside the vehicle, when you do this, Ford cannot Track the vehicle, because the vehicle is not sending the info.

Vehicle Location can be turned off. Ford Telematics is dependent on the info being sent by the vehicle, specifically the 5G Modem.

That being said, turning this off could affect features like connected Navigation, and FordPass location(Obviously).
