timing chain may have jumped when reinstalling it. never removed the drivers side, but could it have jumped also? also, when installing the links on the sprockets, should the double dark link be centered on the cam sprocket? pictures would be very helpful. expy cranks but sounds very rough

Here are some photos of timing chain set up.

Was the cam or motor turned at any point while timing chain was off? Is it possible you set cam 180 degrees out of phase in relationship to the other cam? Both cams need to be at mark at the same time. The crank turns twice for every single revolution of cam so if you went off of crank sprocket or top dead center only?? If one cam is 1 crank revolution out, valves will not hit but spark, fuel and valve timing will be 360 (crank revolution) degrees out on one bank. Not questioning your abilities just trying to cover the bases.

watson, the double dark link should be down on the crankshaft, the single dark link should be up on the cam shaft. From there, you match up the marks on the gears with the dark links and you are golden.
