I used a 3D printed front crankshaft seal installer, which was basically just a really nice plastic cup. It did not support using a bolt or have any provision for setting the depth. I think a large socket or section of PVC pipe that is cut square would work just as well. Pay attention to the installed depth of the factory seal and try to match it. The 303-335 tool would make it easier with no guessing, but it's not worth that price.

Yeah the Harmonic damper installer I rented from O'Reilly's worked just fine. It's slow, but it worked without issue. That said I am fairly certain I rented part # 67306. I prefer the 1 piece bolt design. I sadly did not keep the receipt to verify this.

Good luck, plan plenty of time.

It's been about 6 months and the dang passenger side valve cover is leaking where the timing cover meets the head. Interestingly it's leaking out on top of the silicone that squished out. I had run out of usable The Right Stuff so I used a new tube of Permatex Black along with the Motorcraft gasket. I really struggled to get this valve cover back on and had to have my wife help me. Maybe the most difficult part of the entire process for me. Not looking forward to it again so soon.

My thought is to get a replacement valve cover, used unfortunately, and another Motorcraft gasket since the Fel-Pro didn't fit right. After cleaning up the valve cover gasket groove several times maybe I have compromised it and I'll use The Right Stuff next time. I don't think I have ever had The Right Stuff leak, but it can be tough to separate and clean up.
