I have a 2010 limited I just bought, that I've been chasing down some issues with. One is some wobble/vibration at highway speeds. The previous owner put the OE tire back on, Pirelli Scorpions, which don't have great reviews. I just had the vehicle 4 wheel aligned (replaced front struts), re-balanced and rotated. The vibration seemed to move from the front to back after rotation.

I believed I've tracked it down to an out of round tire. (Put the rear up on jack stands, had the wife sit in it in drive at idle. You can see it wobble about 1/8". The other rear tire isn't much better. I notice considerable curb rash on all 4 wheels. What are my options at this point?

On one side of the coin, I could find a nice aftermarket wheel, and slap on some Goodyear eagle sports, or similar....that would cost quite a bit. The stock rim is 20".

But what else can be done? Is there a cheap source for OEM wheels for us? I'm not 100% sure the wheels are bent, but I'm leaning towards that.

20s formerly cost a lot, not so much anymore

For name brands, you can get Goodyear Wranglers in 275/55r20 for 113 ea @ walmart.com

Sumitomos for 117, Coopers for 124, Kumhos for 131

Ship to your local brick and mortar Wally for free

PS use the internet and search the tire size. Walmart.com =/= Walmart in-store (for some reason)

So, do you think i have a bent rim? or just a bad tire? Not sure I'd trust my local WalMart to tell the difference.

You could swap on a cheapie used tire for 30-40 bucks just to diagnose

If it's still the same it's probably the rim

So nothing was noted when you had them balanced, but you can see a wobble? Thats odd if you ask me. And the four wheel alignment was the same? Did the shop give you an alignment report?

Rotate the tires again, and do your wobble test. If it moves to the front, you're looking at new rims. If it stays on the rear, you're looking at some rear suspension replacement (bent axle or hub).

Is the spare the same size?
Use that for diagnosis?

Just got back from the tire shop. Had them all rebalanced. They were way off. Apparently, they just got a new tire machine and the rookie who did it the first time didn't get the wheel centered when he balanced them. I'm happy to report its running smoothly now.

Easiest fix, but new tires. Don’t go cheapo on the only 4 things that keep the truck moving while on the ground

For all I know, all tires would display "wobble" some amount under the test the original post described. Everything mechanical has some tolerances and a tire on a vehicle is not like a piece of metal on a lathe.

Sometimes a belt lets loose on a tire and creates this type of malfunction. Easy enough to diagnose before blowing a wad on new tires as a homerun attempt to solve. Seems like that would be discovered during balancing but I've never balanced a tire so I Dunno.
